Credit Union Closing at 2:00 Friday

vacu_new_logo2Sperry Marine Federal Credit Union will close it’s doors for the last time at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 29. Branch offices will remain closed during the weekend. The main branch office will re-open on Monday as the new Charlottesville branch of Virginia Credit Union (VaCU). Look for new signs and other renovations during the coming months. Please stop by and say hello! You’ll see some familiar faces as tellers Betty Sims, Kasi Drumheller, and Candace Deane have all accepted positions with VaCU.

You do not need to take any action to transfer your membership to Virginia Credit Union (VaCU). Your accounts will be automatically transferred after the close of business on May 31 and will be available to you at VaCU on Monday, June 1. Soon after June 1, you will receive a folder of information about membership in VaCU. In the meantime, we hope you will visit the VaCU website at vacu.org to learn more about the services and benefits that will be available to you.

Online Banking

Online banking will remain available through 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, but no member-initiated transactions will be accepted after 10:00 AM on Saturday.

Sperry Marine FCU’s online services will no longer be available after 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. You will have expanded features with Virginia Credit Union’s Online Banking and Bill Pay, plus Mobile Banking.

As soon as you have your new VaCU member number after June 1, you can enroll in Virginia Credit Union’s Online Banking, use free Bill Pay and enroll in free eStatements/eNotices if you like. Watch for more information in the mail to help you with the transition.

What steps should I take before 5:00 PM on May 30?

Scheduled transfers and scheduled bill payments you have set up to occur after May 30 will not be moved to VACU’s Online Banking. Please take these steps to assist you in setting up your scheduled transfers and payments with VACU

Print or save the following from your Sperry Online Banking:

  • A list of your future-dated scheduled transfers and scheduled bill payments.
  • Any transaction history that you would like to retain.
  • Any transfer history that you would like to retain.
  • Any Bill Pay history that you would like to retain.

After you enroll in VACU’s Online Banking – Take a few moments to set up your scheduled transfers and scheduled bill payments. Click on the Transfer Funds tab to set up transfers, and Pay Bills to set up bill payments. Please call Member Services at (804) 323-6800 or (800) 285-6609 if we can help you in any way.

Credit Union Website

The SMFCU web site will be deactivated this weekend, and subsequent site requests will automatically forward to the Virginia Credit Union website.
